I was looking forward to trying the popular Pinakbet rice. What it is is rice mixed up with pinakbet, sort of like a pinakbet risotto - masarap! It got me to eat okra and not spit. It's topped with 3 nice pieces of crispy liempo, ayayayay, be still my artery... The dip is bagoong that has a sweet chocolatey flavor, quite inventive and masarap. Ah, but save room for dessert. This might be the best real banana cream pie in the country - I love any banana dessert, and this one is perfect. Just the right amount of cream, and the custard and toffee are not overpoweringly sweet, allowing the bananas distinct flavor and texture to be the centerpiece. The Malakoff is like a chocolate version of sans rival, and it's quite delicate and savory. The desserts get 5 stars, but because I was quite shocked with the menu prices, 4 stars lang. Make reservations, because obviously those with cash don't mind the price tag.
