Whenever I want a quick and hearty Pinoy meal, I go to Binalot. I still remember the first time I ate here. It was in the Market! Market! branch and it was dinner time. I just did some serious shopping and my funds as dwindling and I still needed to go home. Serendra and Bonifacio High Street were out because I can't afford to eat there. After going around, I stopped in front of Binalot and ordered the Inihaw na Liempo which included rice, salted egg and tomatoes with a small iced tea drink. Before I didn't eat raw tomatoes, much less salted egg but I was so hungry I mixed the liempo, the egg, the tomato and rice in the spoon, took a bite and I had what I can only call, a "wow!" experience. I ate everything on my banana leaf then and I still do now. The liempo is made just the way I like it--it's salty and not sweet. Salted egg, salty liempo are tempered by the sour-sweet tomato and the rice. I also tried the sisig (without the sizzle but they made up for it by being creamy) but I'm not sure if sisig goes with fried egg. If only they made the liempo tender, I can call it the perfect meal.
